Okoboji Area Environmental Organizations

For over 100 years, the Okoboji Protective Association has been dedicated to preserving and enhancing the ecological health of West Okoboji Lake and the entire Great Lakes watershed. 

Keep Okoboji Blue is an environmental campaign spreading the importance of water quality and protection of our lakes ecosystem.

The Iowa Great Lakes Association is a multi-issue organization that strives to be an active influence in promotion for environmental health and quality of life in the Iowa Great Lakes region, supporting organizations whose environmental missions include protection of the Iowa Great Lakes watershed area.

The Millers Bay Conservancy's mission is to preserve, maintain, protect, and improve the natural beauty, clean water, recreation, fishing, wildlife, and healthy ecosystem of Millers Bay.

Owned by the State of Iowa and operated through the Board of Regents, the Lakeside Lab provides science classes and research opportunities for university students, and offers Outreach Programs and provides services through the state universities.

The Spirit Lake Protective Association works to protect the quality of water in the Big Spirit Lake watershed and to maintain and enhance the quality of life for the people who use it.

The East Okoboji Lakes Improvement Corp seeks to protect, enhance, and beautify the water of the East Okoboji, Upper Gar, Minnewashta, and Lower Gar Lakes through promotion of watershed stewardship and education.
